Reading what Richards had to say about the 1926 version of Ben Hur, I could not find anything that I disagreed with. However, I wish that he had gone more into depth about the conflicting values and beliefs of Christianity and the Romans. He lightly goes over this, mostly through direct examples in which Jesus is present. I would have liked to see more of a commentary on how Ben-Hur is driven by a want of revenge against the Romans until he learns Christ's peaceful message. This conversion in the thought process of Ben-Hur is briefly mentioned, but lacks depth and an interpretation of the emotion behind it.
