I agree with all the points Richards made about the "Ben Hur: A Tale of the Christ"  movie but I would have liked if he took the time to elaborate on more. Due to the fact that we watched the movie and discussed the movie, its history, and its background I felt like Richards really didn't tell me much that I didn't already know. He went over the mishaps that surrounded the making of the movie, the outrageous amount it cost to produce it, and a few other fun facts about the movie. They were all very interesting and important parts of the movie. I would have liked to see more  mention of the reason why Jesus was portrayed as just a hand or a foot. Not sure if Richards thought about it or tried to analyze it like we did in class but it would have been interesting to hear his views on it. I also wish he would have discussed the naval battle scene and how it was real terror due to the fires on the boats. I feel like Richards could have talked so much more about how interesting and revolutionary this film was but he missed his chance.

  1. Your critique seems quite justified to me. I only wish you had mentioned in more detail what does indeed make the film interesting and even revolutionary, and what thus should have been discussed by Richards.
